Water damage doesn’t always come in the obvious form of excess precipitation or broken pipes. Did you know that excessive humidity can leave your property at risk for water and mold damage? The dew point is the atmospheric temperature below which water droplets begin to condense and form dew, and unbalance indoor and outdoor temperatures can cause condensation in your home.

In these hot and sticky times of humid weather, it’s a good idea to keep track of the current dew point near your home, especially since you’re likely running your air conditioning nearly non-stop. If the surface temperature of the building materials in your home drops to the dew point or lower, condensation can form and cause water damage followed by mold and mildew if it’s not addressed. This most commonly occurs on or around windows.

If you think that the hot and humid weather we’ve been having has caused water damage due to condensation in your home, call Master Clean for an inspection right away!
